Demo at Chinese Embassy – London, Jan 2014

Demonstration outside the Chinese Embassy

On 25 January 2014, just a few months after the group was formed, we held our first protest outside the Chinese Embassy in London to call for an end to the country’s ivory trade. With a turnout of some 130 people, the event received coverage in the national press and on ITV and helped to raise public awareness of the poaching crisis that was killing around 100 elephants each day to feed demand for ivory, mainly by China.

The event featured our first ever speakers – Dominic Dyer (Care for the Wild), Philip Mansbridge (Care for the Wild), Mary Rice (EIA), and Will Travers (Born Free Foundation).
